Northside’s Hannah Entrekin forced extra innings in the Lady Bears’ season opener with an RBI double in the seventh.

Then in the bottom of the eighth, Entrekin delivered the game-winning hit. Her triple with the bases loaded broke a 6-all score and gave the Lady Bears a 9-6 win against Hackett on Thursday.

Northside (1-0) actually trailed 6-4 in the top of the eighth after Hackett scored a pair of runs. But the Lady Bears battled back in their half of the eighth.

Chloe Ray’s RBI single cut the Hackett lead to one; then Meegan Jones tied the score with an RBI single of her own. Northside then loaded the bases to bring up Entrekin, who on the first pitch she saw, had her game-winning triple.

Entrekin ended up going 3-for-5 with her triple and two doubles. She also drove in four runs. Hailey Upton and Olivia Williams also went 3-for-5 for the Lady Bears.

Upton was also the winning pitcher, giving up five runs on five hits over eight innings while striking out six.

Emma Infalt went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Lady Hornets.
